Bearwood Action for Refugees presents
Next Saturday, 20th February, Bearwood Action for Refugees are hosting their first fundraiser at Thimblemill Library, 11am-2pm.
Raising money for Leros Solidarity Network who work with Syrian refugees in Leros, Greece, the RefuTea Party will be full of live music, craftivism and a whole lot of cake!
First up is singer-songwriter Jack Goodall whose eclectic talents see him playing pop, blues, funk, rock and everything in between.
The second set is brought to you by blues boy The Honeyboy Jones who’ll be bringing his very own special brand of foot-stomping slide-guitaring blues to Bearwood. Our final set sees local favourites The Bearwood Bandits grace the stage, a six piece folk collective playing a range of instruments including fiddle, banjo, Mandolin, Accordion, Tenor Guitar and more besides. Folk, country, bluegrass and old time music are their bag, they’ll be showing us how to party like it’s 1899!
Bearwood’s very own crafty activists the Smethwick Craftivistas will be stitching up a storm and inspiring others to get involved with this gentle and beautiful form of activism.
Pen Jones will be on hand creating your very own caricatures in aid of our worthy cause. And there is the raffle of dreams, sooooo many prizes and all so coveted. Jewellery, gifts and handmade items, donated by some fantastic and generous local traders and makers, including Colette Waudby, Skylark Rocks, Ita McKenna, Webbs Walled Garden and Mad as a Hatter. There’s even the chance to win a meal out donated by the generous folks at Nandos Broad Street!
And there will be cake lots of cake, (but always room for more, if any more keen bakers want to get involved!), so come down on Saturday, support a fantastic cause and join us for a cuppa and lots more besides.
