If the recent Lovely Letters session for families is anything to go by, the next round of events by F A M A L A M for children and teens will add a little bit of magic to your July weekends in Bearwood. Up soon is:
- Gardening for toddlers (Ecotots – how cute!) on Sat 15th July [INFO & BOOK HERE]
- GRLPWR mindfulness, positive psychology and visual art workshop for secondary age girls (and boys!) THIS Sunday, 9th July. [INFO & BOOK HERE]
- At the very end of the month is something we all, surely, need a little bit more of – random acts of kindness. Come to Thimblemill Library to make your own crafty care package, for you, a friend or a random stranger. Sunday 30th July. [INFO & BOOK]
All this is part of the F A M A L A M Art for Social Good programme,. Wondering what Famalam is? In internet slang it means ‘family, close friend’ (yeah, we didn’t know that either until Google helped us…) and Famalam is an organisation run by Bearwood’s very own Amy Martin. Amy explains:
We stage engaging events spanning art, creativity and social good. It’s for children and parents navigating parenting and play in the 21st century. We also test radial childcare solutions to help families thrive – working with the Impact Hub in Birmingham. There’s lots on!
Well we like the sound of that! The Lovely Letters session really captured the imagination of the kids that were there (take a look at facilitator Jody Ann Bickley’s One Million Lovely Letters project and take a guess at what we were doing). The remaining events look set to be just as inspiring.
